Athlete Records and Statistics

Athlete records have been compiled from old hard copy results held at the IBU's Head Office in Salzburg.

Biathlon first appeared in the Olympic Winter Games in 1960, two years after the first World Championships. The first World Cup was held in 1977-78. Only WC and World Champs races and OWG with GBR participation are listed. In the early days of the sport a number of "international" military and civilian races were held, but these are not recognised as official IBU (UIPMB) events.


	A very few early World Cup results are "missing", but unless "N/R" for not recorded is shown, we are confident that our records are more than 98% accurate! Please contact us if you have any amendments - especially if you can fill in any of the gaps.

	Compiling and uploading the records is "a labour of love" and World Cup 2004 - 08 and all European Cup Records will not be available until mid 2008. Biographical details will be the final stage.
