OLE EINAR'S DOUBLE GOLD Probably the best biathlete of all time, Ole Einar Bjoerndalen NOR claimed his second gold medal in 3 days as he shot clean in the 10 km Sprint. Sven Fischer GER was 2nd with team mate Ricco Gross 4th for the second race running. 3rd by 0.2 seconds was Wolfgang Perner AUT. More

DIXIE BOWS OUT
Mike Dixon finished his last individual race (the 10 km Sprint) in 74th place, missing one target. This still gives him a remarkable record of having missed only 14 out of 170 in all his Olympic races since 1988. Mark Gee (72nd) narrowly missed his best ever Olympic result. Best British athlete was once again Jason Sklenar in 71st. |
SECOND GOLD FOR GERMAN WOMEN Kati Wilhelm won the women's 7.5 km sprint ahead of fellow German Uschi Disl. This gave GER a second gold following Andrea Henkel's individual victory on Monday. Magdalena Forsberg SWE was once again the bronze medallist. More It was a remarkable day for Germany who took a 1-2-3 in the women's luge. If only we could do this in GBR ... if only ... |
